The Dublin-founded digital supermarket will leverage Deliveroo’s tech and rider fleet to enable more deliveries, complementing its existing network of riders
Monday 7th July 2025, Dublin: Shuppa, the digital supermarket, is ramping up its on-demand delivery service across Dublin as it adopts Deliveroo’s new white label service.
Deliveroo Express, which launched in April this year, is a new delivery solution enabling grocers and retailers to leverage the platform’s tech and rider network to offer rapid deliveries through their own online channels.
The new partnership allows Shuppa to continue its mission of instant grocery deliveries in as little as 15 minutes through its website and app, but leveraging Deliveroo’s extensive rider network to offer more deliveries, complementing the existing fleet of couriers it employs.
Shuppa, which launched in 2021, offers 2,000 products from local Irish-owned produce to well-known international brands across confectionery, bakery, meat and poultry, fruit and veg, healthcare, alcoholic beverages and many more, all housed in two dark stores in the city centre.
The company first partnered with Deliveroo in 2023, allowing consumers in Dublin to place orders through the Deliveroo app, which will continue to be available.
Shuppa is the second brand in Ireland to partner with Deliveroo Express after launching in April 2025.
Helen Maher, Regional Director for Deliveroo Ireland comments: "At Deliveroo, we're focused on being a true growth partner for retailers. We're delighted to deepen our collaboration with Shuppa through Deliveroo Express, enabling them to reach more customers with even greater speed and efficiency. dIrish consumers increasingly expect convenience and immediacy, especially when it comes to grocery delivery, and with Shuppa, we see a clear opportunity to meet that demand at scale. By combining our leading delivery infrastructure with Shuppa’s strong local brand, we’re helping to shape the future of on-demand retail in Ireland.”
Sean Meagher, Co-Founder at Shuppa comments: *“This new partnership with Deliveroo Express is a significant step forward for Shuppa, allowing us to rapidly expand our direct delivery coverage across Dublin. Customers ordering through the Shuppa app will benefit from market-leading pricing and convenience, now accessible to even more people. By leveraging Deliveroo’s extensive courier network, we're better equipped to maintain consistent, reliable delivery times, particularly during periods of high demand.
“We remain committed to maintaining a primarily fully employed team of riders, strategically supplemented by Deliveroo’s network of riders. This blended approach enables us to optimise delivery times, manage costs effectively, and ultimately deliver a sustainable and profitable service for our customers”*
Deliveroo launched its grocery business in 2018 and since then has amassed a broad selection, partnering with leading UK supermarkets such as Morrisons, Co-op, Sainsbury’s, Waitrose, Whole Foods, as well as small independent businesses. In Ireland, Deliveroo has trial partnerships with Tesco, M&S and many longstanding partnerships with convenience stores like Centra, Londis, Spar, Mace, Daybreak and Costcutter.
Deliveroo’s grocery business has seen strong growth, reaching 16% of gross transaction value (GTV) and reporting strong double digit growth in 2024. Progress has been driven by increased partner and product selection, improved consumer experience and greater awareness of the offering.
Deliveroo sees significant opportunities in grocery and retail ahead in Ireland, and continues to build new capabilities to drive growth - of which ‘Deliveroo Express’ is the latest development. While the service is initially launching in the UK and Ireland, the company is set to expand Deliveroo Express into other markets in due course.
