17th August 2022, Ireland: Deliveroo Ireland can reveal that Sunday has overtaken Saturday as the most popular day of the week to make an order on the popular app. Deliveroo data reveals that there are now 15% more orders on a Sunday then there are a Saturday, which used to be the most popular day of the week to order a takeaway.
Deliveroo is attributing this shift in behaviour to an increase in the ‘Sunday Scaries’ otherwise known as ‘The Fear’. For those not in the know, ‘Sunday Scaries’ is a term made popular by Millennials and Gen z that refers to the feeling of dread that many people experience the day before heading back to work after the weekend. Ever since the pandemic, the Sunday Scaries have gone mainstream. This tingle of trepidation hits most folks when the weekend starts to wind down and angst about what’s waiting in their inbox tomorrow creeps in.
