About Demae by DARUMA
Long before apps, Japan had Demae, its word for "bring the food to me." Back in the Edo period, delivery runners dashed through the streets with hot soba in wooden boxes. Later came riders on bicycles, steering with one hand and balancing a tower of bowls on the other shoulder. Same old idea, new set of wheels: maki, bento and warm plates, on their way to you.
